A little bit about myself

Ms. Mary (Me):

I have always loved working with children and animals for as long as I can remember. I am a loving cheerful and patient mother of four, with many years of experience and education in childcare. I’m a smart and energetic person with a lot of creative ideas. Crafting, planning activities, cleaning and organizing, playing sports, and music are all very fun activities to me. I like going on hikes and being outdoors in nature. Nature and bug hunts are the best. I love playing volleyball. I have a knack and keen ability through observation to see different behaviors children have as they are growing and be able to help the child resolve and focus on the best outcome, and realize why a child is behaving the way they are.

Important to me:

The most important is for a child to feel loved and filled with joy and laughter. For a child to be a child, but also be able to learn and develop at or above age appropriate levels. I believe it's important to be well mannered and polite, to help out those in need, and to open the door for the elderly. Teaching boys to be gentlemen and girls to be ladies, and teaching the young children to be loving, kind, and respectful to others. It’s important to play and do messy activities, such as mud pies, play dough, goop, bubbles, volcano, bug hunts, painting, and spy. It's Important to learn and educate through these experiences and activities.

Child Care Experience:

Over 28 years of experience caring for children. Later in my education I took 3 semesters in Early Childhood Education and took 4 years of Psychology with a focus on Child Psychology. I have been a Girl Scout leader since 2011 and took over as the Girl Scout Service Unit treasurer in 2014. I have been a cub scout leader since 2017 as well. I have nannied for a couple people for a total of 10 years. I have worked in three preschools one in CT, one in NY, and one in Atlanta, GA for a total of 6 years. I babysat local children from the age of twelve consistently throughout my high school days and full time in the summers before I was 16. Once I was 16, I life guarded & babysat and have stayed certified and active with my CPR and First Aid training to date.

THE BEST PLAYDOUGH RECIPE

Supplies

  • 2.5 cups water

  • 1 1/4 c. salt

  • 1 1/2 tbsp. cream of tartar

  • 5 tbsp. vegetable oil

  • 2.5 cups flour

  • Food coloring or liquid watercolors.

Mix everything but the food coloring together in a large pot until somewhat smooth. Cook the dough over a low heat. Keep mixing until the edges of the dough along the side and bottom of the pan appear dry. Pinch a piece of dough. If it’s not gooey, the dough is ready.

Place the dough on a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface and knead the warm dough until it’s smooth. Then divide it into the number of colors that you’d like to make. I divided mine into four balls, flattened each of them, added a little bit of food coloring, and then kneaded it in. I added more food coloring to get the desired shades of yellow, pink, teal, and lavender.

Pick a surface where the foodcoloring wont dye into the countertop etc.
